WWF-SASSI Ocean Challenge

Created as a project by Game2Change for the WWF. This game sees the player take on the role of a submarine commander, collecting fish to track across three different ocean levels while avoiding obstacles. Each level represents part of the SASSI list (green, orange, red), with progressive levels having less fish and more signs of pollution. The goal of the game is to make players aware of the need to avoid eating endangered or at risk fish, and the issues facing marine ecosystems. All code and asset implementation done by me, alongside the level design and some aspects of game's design.

Personal

Dassie Town

A water pipe puzzle game created as final third year game design project for university. Set in the South African Karoo, the player takes on the role of a plumber who has to restore the water network of a drought stricken town. This game features an open world design with puzzles able to be tackled in any order, as well as a variety of characters with dialogue that reacts to your actions.

Lightkeeper

A jam game made in four days for the Campus Game Jam 2022, which won best overall game. You play a vengeful ghost who uses the lighthouse to trick and purposely wreck boats. Ships react to your beam being pointed at them, moving away, so you use your light beam to push them off their current paths, with a list of specific objects you have to meet such as pushing boats into specific obstacles. Apart from all the code I setup all the UI and animations for this game, using art from my teammates.

Hierocoder

My entry, created just by me, for the previous Campus Game Jam in 2021. This is a story focused game with stealth elements. You are tasked with clearing data from a few rooms of computers while under guard. While doing this you can look at the files when you are not being watched, to learn the truth and get an alternative means of escape. This game has multiple endings based on your actions.

University Portfolio

This is just a collection of many smaller games I made during my second and third year of university. My personal highlights include Present Company (featured picture) where you try to get through a party using your limited social skills, built as an alternative FPS. Another favourite of is Springperson which uses a physics based spring to both bounce the player around and knock enemies out of an arena.

Médico

A prototype minimalist roleplaying game where the player progresses by healing wounded characters instead of fighting them.

On Music Mechanics

My final university project, On Music Mechanics, was a collaboration with a music student to create a series of games and a zine with a premise: core mechanics that require sound to work. So all these games are made so they can't be played with listening, and players have to interact with sound to solve the challenges. There are four games in total, with each using a different aspect of music to create the core mechanics.
